Voice Specialties
Our name says it all. Duke Voice Care Center – Where everyone has a voice. Our voices become a part of communication as soon as we are born. Whether voice is important for our careers or just communicating with our friends and family, it is a part of who we are.
Our team members are all specialists within the area of voice. Additionally, our DVCC team is comprised of members who further specialize within the area of voice.
The DVCC Team
Our primary voice team includes a highly specialized group of laryngologists, speech pathologists, and a singing voice specialist.
- Otolaryngologist /Laryngologist - A physician who specializes in evaluating and treating a medical examination will be completed for the head and neck, including when appropriate, visualization of the vocal cords, nasal passages, and sinuses.
- Speech Pathologist – a voice evaluation which examines technique for speaking and/or singing, voice measures (acoustic assessment), and videolaryngostroboscopy (a slow motion evaluation of the vocal folds.
- Singing voice specialist - A speech pathologist who has extensive training and experience as a voice teacher and performer. He or she identifies factors which may be contributing to problems with the singing voice and provides rehabilitation through exercises and training.
Within the areas of “voice,” our professionals have unique specialization and cater to all facets of voice problems.
